THE CLIENT – DIAMOND BOX
Diamond Box Limited operates from a modern 110,000 square foot factory in West Bromwich. An award winning midlands based independent supplier of corrugated packaging who has a “can do” philosophy of doing business. This approach to their corrugated packaging customers has proved successful and helped establish Diamond Box Limited as one of the fastest growing and now one of the largest independently owned single-site cardboard manufacturers in the UK.
THE CHALLENGE
Diamond box had no power factor correction before AS Power Engineering Ltd visited. They were being charged £480 per month in reactive power charges. We firstly analysed their power and found that they were operating at a power factor of 0.71. Our challenge was to install a stand-alone detuned power factor correction system.
THE SOLUTION
Once our analysing was complete we installed 500 Kvar of detuned power factor correction. We improved the sites power factor correction from 0.71 to 0.99 eliminating reactive power charges and reducing KVA availability. This saved the customer over £18,000 per annum.
